Today I am feeling MUCH MUCH better...
Actually this is my first day on the computer if anyone can believe that, I know my family can't.
I am feeling still a bit sore but no nausea which is most important..
Also today, will be my first day on something other than liquids so I will keep you all posted.
Thanks again for all the support, thoughts and prayers and I am missing church service the last few weekends but am keeping up with it on the web.
See you all real soon.

Day 3 Post Op (June 7, Saturday)
Same as Friday...... I did feel a bit better most of the day but overall still am getting the anesthesia out of my system I think.
I have still only had liquids to eat or actually drink. So this is sometime now since Tuesday to only have had liquids and I am actually getting used to it but I also know that my body is needing some proteins and the soft proteins will start tomorrow.
Thanks to my Great HOME TEAM... The Waltho's brought my family some great pasta today for dinner with salad and brownies. The family loved it...
Thanks so MUCH.

Day 2 Post Op (June 6, Friday)
Day 2 was more interesting than I would have liked. I was not feeling so good today, the pain was up as I was more sore than on Thursday maybe the pain meds were still in effect.
Also was not feeling well from a nausea viewpoint from wake up until about 11am...
However the rest of the day with walks and getting around went much better but spent most of this day really recovering as this was a tough day.
Thanks to my Great HOME Team, the Conner's brought my family Lasagna and the family tore it up and loved it..
Thanks so much...

Day 1 Post Op (June 5, Thursday)
Day 1, was GREAT... Maybe it was just the remaining drugs in my system that made me feel great but I felt wonderful..
Did you know that the Hospital was the place not to get any sleep? Here was my evening after surgery.
Had a rough time coming out of surgery since it went a bit longer than they wanted, finding out the I made a TOP 3 list even though this wasn't the one you wanted to make. Apparently all of us have fat on the inside, but this fat person had fat on inside and outside which made it tough for the surgeons to get through and navigate. I was only supposed to be in surgery for about 1 hour and ended up in surgery for about 2+ hours. Which than made recovery a bit rough for me as I am not a big fan of anesthesia and don't feel so well after.
So here is the highlights.
- Great family and friends support of coming to the hospital.
- These same family and friends stayed until I was out and the surgeon came out.
- Didn't get up to my room until about 6:30pm as the hotel was full. :) The ride to the room even though I wasn't completely awake, I know the 3 kids they had transporting me were in a hurry or maybe it was a way for them to workout.
- I know that my wonderful wife tried to stick with me until I was completely awake but I was really not in the mood and was feeling horrible. I knew she was there and that is all that mattered but I also didn't want her driving home late and when she asked me if I needed anything I said I needed rest and for her to go but what was funny I don't remember saying that with words. I was afraid if I talked I was going to lose it.
- I then about 9pm woke up completely from surgery and was feeling great. The nursing staff did an INCREDIBLE job in supporting me and keeping me from feeling sick.
- Then from the moment I was awake, then started getting me up out of bed and walking and that amazingly enough made me feel much better.
- Had and 11:30pm X-Ray and back to the room for actual bed time from 12am to 6am was scheduled with an every 2 hour vital sign check from the nurses and was up and walking again about 5:45am.
- All was going well and I felt great.
- I was actually checked out of the hospital by 11am.
On my way home and was feeling pretty good but needed to rest when I got home.
- Shout out to the Nursing Staff (Pam, Brecka, Barb, Kristen, Dawn) AWESOME TEAM...
My kids also went to their swim meet today and they did AWESOME.
* Sophia took 3 third place ribbons.
* Anthony took a first, fifth, and sixth place ribbons.
Great day....

The New Beginning
I am currently a few hours away from the new beginning of my health journey. I am going in for Lap Band Surgery at Scottsdale Bariatric with Dr. Robin Blackstone. I have spent the better part of the last year in preparing for this process with being diabetic and all the bad things that go along with that. I am in great hands with Dr. Blackstone and look forward to a speedy recovery.
I will update you as I continue down this path...
Thanks for your support
John
